Interview with the DJ

After the 16 hours Marathon Megaevent "From India to Singapore" and "Rocking 4th of July", I had the opportunity of having an interview with DJ Cidso of eSOUNDS, right before the Grand Opening in Eclipse French Furry on this coming Saturday July 11, starting at 7:00 AM PST / 4:00 PM CET with open end. Meet you there and enjoy the interview with the DJ.

Natalie: Hello Cidso and thanks for the time you have taken for the interview.

DJ Cidso: No problem, for you always *smiles*

Natalie: Since when are you Dj actually..... and how did you start your DJ career?

DJ Cidso: Since the beginning of the Electro Pop Music... starting 1989... when I was 16, I was in OZ in Stuttgart for the first time. Thedirtiest but best club at the time, aside of Omen in Frankfurt. Since I then saw and listened to Marco Zaffarano and R.O.O.D.Y, I knew that this is what I want to do, becoming a DJ. but I did not have the bucks for getting the equipment at the time. Only after I have finished my civil services in 1998, I was 21 by that time, I bought a record player and a 2-channel mixer. Now I am using a Technics 1210MK2 and a Pioneer DJM600 as basic equipment. After I had purchased my equipment, I started to get really into 6 to 7 hours daily until I could mix bass on bass. In 1999/2000 I had my first gigs in Interzone, Sheppard Hours, Club Tokio…. but those parties are not any longer unfortunately.

Natalie: Why…?

DJ Cidso: Well, at this time, these clubs were running that well that they did not place any adds until their popularity went down and finally hardly any one came and Club Tokio was closed down by the police *laughs*

Natalie: Those clubs are all based in and around Stuttgart, is that?

DJ Cidso: Yes, Stuttgart and the surrounding of Stuttgart, but all are closed down nowadays. And in 2004 I have opened up a music pub with some friends in Böblingen but we needed to close down after a month, it was just too much for Böblingen. After that I stepped down first because of work until 2008, that is when I decided to fullly focus on my music. It was around Christmas 2008 when I found out about Utherverse and since March 2009 I am with eSOUNDS.

Natalie: I see, so you have only met and joined eSOUNDS on Utherverse, is that?

DJ Cidso: Exactly. I first tried to play at ENC but you know…. I am just too good for this shed *laughs*.

Natalie: sure *smiles*

DJ Cidso: That is where we met the first time….

Natalie: Yes, the only good thing about ENC *laughs*

DJ Cidso: Absolutly *laughs*

Natalie: And how did you finally join eSOUNDS?

DJ Cidso: At that time, sexysin was looking for a German DJ and has e-mailed me here on Utherverse, that is how I then met Merc (Mercedes_eSON).

Natalie: And since then you are contracted by eSOUNDS?

DJ Cidso: Forever…. I want to grow together with eSOUNDS. I want to see how far we can still make it, we have only just started! DeBond and Merc had the idea, both know each other since childhood, and I want to help them to grow eSOUNDS.

Natalie: Did you have many gigs since you have joined eSOUNDS?

DJ Cidso: some…. around 10

Natalie: I know of one you had in the Netherlands if I am not mistaken?

DJ Cidso: In the Palladium I had a gig together with Merc, we had over 300 listeners there, then with DJ Flosse and with all eSOUNDS DJs once…..

Natalie: The Palladium is the club in the Netherlands?

DJ Cidso: Sorry *laughs* yes…. Tiesto has already played there

Natalie: At your latest gig “From India to Singapore” you were streamed live into the two biggest clubs in Singapore, Zouk and Zirca, and one in India….

DJ Cidso: …and another one in the Netherlands later on as well as some in Las Vegas….

Natalie: Do you know how many people have listened to you and Murat playing?

DJ Cidso: There were 4700 in the end

Natalie: Yes, in the end. But have been over 5300 at peak time. What was that for a feeling, playing for so many people?

DJ Cidso: Playing for so many people… WOOOOOT…. When I think about it, my fingers start sweating *laughs*.

Natalie: Murat really did a fine job heating the crowd up for you….

DJ Cidso: Absolutly. I was a bit shaking in the end, my wrist was almost dead *laughs*

Natalie: That is understandable, after a 16 hours Marathon Megaevent like this was. What are your ideals in the music scene?

DJ Cidso: Monika Kruse, Carl Cox, Oliver Koletzki, Chris Liebing and Adam Bayer.

Natalie: When is your next gig, for all who have missed to hear you?

DJ Cidso:We have rent the French Furry Dim in Eclipse and will have a Grand Opening Event on the coming Saturday, July 11 starting at 4:00 PM CET, open end
